January marks the start of the prime season for cruises from Texas. There are several destinations and cruise lengths to choose from.
Carnival Cruises from Texas in January
Carnival Cruise Lines offers 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 day cruise adventures in January. Their Carnival Breeze specializes in 4 and 5 day cruises to Cozumel, Yucatan and Costa Maya. The 4-day cruises depart on Mondays, while the 5-day trips leave on Mondays and Saturdays.
Carnival Vista makes 7-day trips that depart on Saturdays. Vista has two different Western Caribbean itineraries: one goes to Cozumel, Belize and Mahogany Bay while the other visits Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
Carnival’s third Texas-based ship, Carnival Dream, has 6, 7 and 8-day cruises in January. Two six-night voyages to Costa Maya, Belize and Cozumel depart on Sundays. A seven day itinerary to Cozumel, Costa Maya and Mahogany Bay also departs on Sunday. And a couple of 8-day cruises to Key West, Freeport (Bahamas), Half Moon Cay and Nassau span Saturday to Sunday timeframes.
Galveston’s January Disney Cruises
The Disney Wonder cruise ship is based in Texas in January. Depending on the time of the month, Wonder’s 4-night trips depart on Monday, Thursday or Friday. These cruises are “out-and-back” to Cozumel – with all of the usual “Disney Cruise Magic” onboard throughout the trip.
A six-night cruise on Disney Wonder departs on a Friday and includes a stop in George Town, Grand Cayman as well as Cozumel.
January Royal Caribbean Cruises from Galveston, Texas
Two Royal Caribbean ships – Adventure of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas – are based in Galveston in January. Cruises on “Adventure” are of the 4 or 5-night variety, including stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya. The 4-day trips leave on Mondays. The 5-day cruises leave on Wednesday or Friday.
Cruises from Texas on Liberty of the Seas are week-long adventures that depart on Sunday. There are three different itineraries on “Liberty”:
- Roatan, Honduras; Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico
- Puerto Costa Maya; Belize City; Roatan
