There are plenty of places to stay in Galveston before or after a cruise. There are a couple nice hotels on the harbor side of the island, plus many more located along the island’s gulf beaches. Beachfront hotels on the east end of the island are the most convenient to the cruise terminal.

Hotels Closest to the Cruise Port:
Harbor House Hotel: An option that’s within walking distance of the cruise terminal is the Harbor House Hotel and Marina at Pier 21. It’s a waterfront hotel that has a marina attached. The property was recently renovated and features modern, stylist rooms with harbor views. There’s free wifi to help you keep in touch with friends and family and complimentary continental breakfast to get you off to a good start in the morning. It’s not a big hotel – there are just 42 rooms, so plan on booking early. There are also several restaurants conveniently located on Pier 21, and the pier is home to Galveston’s historic sailing ship, the Elissa. The hotel gets good reviews at TripAdvisor and has received their Certificate of Excellence.
The Tremont House: The Tremont House is an historic hotel operated by the Wyndham Hotels chain. The hotel is an elegant property with a convenient downtown location that’s close to the cruise terminal. The Tremont House has an on-site restaurant, rooftop bar, and free wifi, plus guests can enjoy use of the pool and spa at the hotel’s sister property, the Hotel Galvez (located on the Gulf side of the island). The hotel is located in the Galveston historic district known as The Strand, where guests will find shopping, dining, and live entertainment at local bars and lounges. The Tremont is among the top-rated Galveston hotels.
Beachfront Hotels:
The Port of Galveston is located on the landward side of Galveston Island. You can enjoy the Galveston beaches by choosing a hotel located on the Gulf side of the island, just a few miles away. There’s a nice assortment of hotels clustered around the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, which is located just on the other side of the island from the cruise port.
Country Inn & Suites Galveston Beach – This seaside hotel is located within walking distance the amusements at the Historic Pleasure Pier. Just two miles from the cruise terminal. A free hot breakfast is served in the mornings.
Four Points by Sheraton, Galveston – Enjoy the beach, which is just steps away, or relax by the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool. Located less than two miles from the Galveston Cruise Port.
DoubleTree by Hilton, Galveston Beach – Beachfront hotel that’s a short walk away from the Historic Pleasure Pier. Less than two miles from the Galveston Cruise Port.
